In Australia, Maureen and Charlotte started a spontaneous campaign to raise money for Care for girls. They will be selling banana bread and cupcakes. How nice is that. Below is their message:
Selling homemade cakes to raise money for “Care for Girls” in India!
Dear friends and family!
In March we travelled to Gurgaon, India, and met the young women supported by Margreeth Kuipers Care For Girls Foundation – a foundation that aims to empower through education and personal development, helping girls to achieve a future in which they can support their own communities. This in turn addresses poverty and helps to reduce teenage marriages.
India has been under strict lockdown since 24th March. For the girls, this has meant staying indoors and not being able to attend school. As well, their families are unable to go out to work and earn an income.
At this time, Care for Girls is raising money to provide the girls and their families with essential supplies such as rice, cooking oil and vegetables as well as school books for when classes resume.

A healthy and delicious banana bread to warm these cooler days. We recommend a slice with a cup of tea and a good read!
Made with bananas, yoghurt, lemons, eggs, butter, flour, bicarb, brown sugar (and looooove).

- Lovely Iced Cupcakes
The sweetest looking cupcakes you ever did see! Treat yourself to 4 scrumptious cupcakes decorated with chocolate icing and sprinkles. We heard the kids love them and the adults love them even more!
Made with flour, eggs, brown sugar, butter, cocoa, vanilla, icing sugar (also with looooove).
4 cupcakes = $10
HOW TO ORDER:
You can place an order from now up until Wednesday 17th June at 7pm.
To place an order please email us at charlotteellenowen@gmail.com and let us know what you would like. We will reply to confirm your order within 24 hours.
PICK UP INFO:
Your order can be picked up from our home address (in North Turramurra) on Friday 19th June anytime after 3pm. If this time doesn’t suit you please let us know with your order and we will try to accommodate if possible.
Support the girls from afar!
For our friends and family who don’t live locally, you can still support the girls in India! Make a donation and we will send you a “Virtual Cake” – all the good stuff and no calories!! What is a virtual cake? You’ll get a copy of our homemade banana bread recipe to make your own wherever you are! Finally, all money received will go directly to Care for Girls that is providing much needed essential supplies to the girls and their families. Following the fundraiser, we will share details and pictures of how your donation is helping the girls.
