I have contact with the girls every day. The situation in India is dire, but sometimes I hear stories that worry me deeply, like this story.
One of the girls said the following:
She said that her mother was in terrible pain, so bad that she had to go to the hospital.
The fear she, her sister and brother had is indescribable. Her father had died years ago and as a family without a father they experienced bitter poverty and were rejected everywhere. Money has been borrowed at an exorbitant interest rate, because since the total lockdown, work was no longer allowed and no work = no money.
Ultrasounds were made in the hospital. It appears the mother has fibroids. Staying in the hospital is not an option. 1 day in the Hospital costs Rs 2000. This is an awful lot of money for them. They try it with medication first. She went home as quickly as possible.
Well, house???? A room of approximately 3 by 4 m.
It is now 45 to 48 degrees there and only a barely functioning second-hand fan should provide some cooling. At least, if there is electricity and that must be paid for first!!
It is not easy to arrange matters from a distance, but we have succeeded so far. Thanks to the contacts there and the donations here, money has been brought to the family to buy food, gas and medicine.
