The objective of Care for Girls Foundation is to offer underprivileged girls in India a focused future through education and personal development.
Girls from India from underprivileged families often remain in the same poverty cycle as their mothers. No education and training means no opportunity to find well-paid work in order to build a dignified life. These girls are underprivileged but not without opportunities. That is why Margreeth Kuipers Care for Girls Foundation wants to support them and offer them a chance for independence.
We offer a focused future through training, education and personal development. We are also thinking of medical care, support in obtaining the necessary papers, school uniforms, learning to manage pocket money, caring for others and social skills. After completing basic and further education, girls can make a targeted choice for a job. In this way, the poverty cycle is broken, arranged marriages are prevented and the girls in turn (during their education) can make a difference to their environment.
“The girls also pass on what they learn to their brothers and sisters. This means that education benefits the whole family. So beautiful to see. And soon they will have their own income. This benefits the entire community.”
Love, Margreeth
OUR VISION
The Margreeth Kuipers Care for Girls Foundation strongly believes that every girl should have access to education. In 2009 a law was passed in India to give everyone a fundamental right to free education. However, not all actually have access to completely free education for various reasons. Especially for children from the poorest and/or most rural areas it proves impossible to have access to (public) schools. In some cases there are no schools in the area and in other cases there are not enough schools to facilitate all children. A classroom only has a set amount of space for children and teachers in these areas are usually scarce. Moreover, in reality the education is not free. The uniforms and materials do not come for free. When families have to make a decision to either materials for school or some rice to get them through the week; the choice is easily made. And sadly enough, for the girls in these areas it proves even more difficult to have access to education than boys. In that case the girls will stay home to do housework or work as a maid. But give a girl a chance and she can make a difference.
