Brushing lessons in India

During my visits I always visit the girls and their families. This also applies to the three girls who are sponsored by the Adding dental practice , where Nynke works. Nynke is a friend of mine. After my visit I wrote her a short message about the current situation. She immediately responded that she would love to come along to see for herself how the girls are doing. She would love to see and experience it all with her own eyes.

Immediately my cogs started working. What if she could share her knowledge and experience as a dental hygienist at the girls’ Literacy India School? How nice would that be? That would benefit everyone. I immediately went to school and presented my idea. Well, that was of course received enthusiastically. My girlfriend also thought it was a good idea. But then the practice…

Brushing lesson for 700 children: how many toothbrushes and toothpaste is that?

There are 700 children at this school. That’s a lot, a lot. What now? My friend approached two more colleagues to come along to help: Caroline Wolters from the Tandgaaf dental practice and Helene Eijkenboom from the P. Laurijsen dental practice. They immediately said “yes”.

Yes! Now the next challenge: toothbrushes and toothpaste. Taking it with you is not an option. Everything is purchased in Gurgaon in India. Better for the economy there.

And of course this one comes along too: the cleaning crocodile!
